Happy Sunday! A Gorgeous Buck visited this morning!

Good Morning!
We have had a few deer visitations in our yard these last few weeks. Friday morning a buck with a deformed rack was drinking out of the birdbath. He was eating off the trees and saw
Merlin and Savannah in the bedroom window, he came up and looked at them. LOL! The 2 weenie cats who run when someone comes over stayed and watched the deer. Bob the social butterfly cat was hiding in the living room behind the ottoman. I could not get a photo of him as I did not want to spook him. This morning our neighbor said there were 2 bucks in the yard. Bob just came into  get me to come outside and walk quietly. This majestic buck was bedded down in our neighbors yard. Her yard is pretty much fenced so he will be safe. I got this photo through a broken fence picket with my telephoto lens. Isn't he just gorgeous!! We live in central Colorado Springs so it is nice to see the wildlife! Have a great day! XO Linda

Happy 4th of July from the K-3- Merlin, Bob & Savannah

Bob, Savannah and Merlin were all relaxing in the sun- so I was able to catch a few cute shots. Bob and Merlin are 1 year now and Savannah will be 1 year July 29th. We are so blessed to have these 3 darling kitties in our life! 1st photo- Merlin being silly, 2nd Merlin on his favorite perch on the cat tree, Bob is his favorite spot and in the cubby hole and Savannah in the other cat bed.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July to my blog friends!
When we were growing up 4th of July meant cookouts and parades, as my Daddy was very involved in the VFW. I do miss small town parades though! I hope you all have a wonderful day and remember those who gave us this day! I was reading about the 150th Anniversary of Gettysburg. Did you know that even NY sent troops from my hometown. The 137th NY helped turn the tide of the war. There was an interesting article in the home newspaper. I have been to Gettysburg and VA and toured the battlegrounds. Eerie, solemn and haunting! Several authors around upstate NY have written books about the battles, I believe I read that Culp's Hill was a big one. Here is a photo from Veterans Memorial Park, Owego NY.

Hello - Again June was a month of fires!

Happy July-
It has been quite a summer here- we had winter until mid May and then it went straight to extreme temps and terribly dry. We have had another June of terrible fires! This time it was the Black Forest fire- it was a piece of heaven with towering pines and thickly wooded, even Black Squirrels lived out in the forest. I lived out there in the 70's. The little cabin cottage my brother rented when he was in the Air Force, sadly burned down. The old home that we had when Tara was small survived. Sadly 2 people perished and this year 511 homes also. And me being such an animal lover can't comprehend the number of pets, livestock, deer, squirrels, birds, mice and even bugs that perished. After I read a few of the sad stories in the paper, I could not read anymore. The fire started and exploded so quickly people who were home barely got out, and if you were at work they would not let you back in. So the heartbreak of  lost lives, lost homes, possessions and most of all precious pets. Again we have a mark in History and loss in our hearts in Colorado Springs. We had terrible smoke for days and the more recent smoke was from a fire 150 miles away. At one time we had 9 active fires in Colorado. The West Fork fire will not be out until the fall, unless we get more needed rain! I have been busy at work and trying to get things done at home so I have not been blogging. I will be back later this week. I hope you are all having a great summer!! After 40 years thank goodness the black squirrels have evolved down into Colorado Springs, we have them in our neighborhood! So the fire did not take them all away! I do know several people who lost everything. I mourn their loss, but homes can be replaced, lives can not.
